After My Engagement Was Broken, I Married a Big Shot [The 1970s]

Beautiful and alluring x proud and haughty, he chases her

The banks of Taohua River are famed for their beauties. Li Xia is reborn as the most alluring woman in the village, but she's also lazy, gluttonous, and notorious for her bad reputation.

According to the plot, she'll first set her sights on a battalion commander who's returned home to visit his family. But the female lead, who has been reborn and lives in the same village, seizes her chance and gets to him first, leaving Li Xia's reputation in tatters.

Li Xia decides to stop causing trouble and pursue another battalion commander instead, hoping to escape her miserable life.

But after they become engaged verbally, her own cousin butts in. He breaks off the engagement and turns around to marry the cousin instead.

Fine, fine. So every last one of them wants to step on her to climb higher, huh? Li Xia swallows her anger and turns her attention to the battalion commander's superior, Regiment Commander Gu Baiyang.

For several days in a row, the handsome, roguish Commander Gu has come to the countryside with his comrades to unwind, and he's been enjoying the sight of her making a fool of herself.

Li Xia gives up on the idea that marriage can change her fate. She stops his car and asks, "Commander Gu, do you need a housekeeper? Could you take me to the provincial capital?"

"A housekeeper?" Gu Baiyang sneers lazily. "I've already got one in the back seat."

In the back seat, her former nemesis smiles smugly at her. "Xiaxia, I'm going to work as Commander Gu's housekeeper."

Li Xia is dumbstruck, but when she thinks of the awful fate waiting for her, she can't bring herself to give up this lifeline.

"Then, Commander Gu, do you need a girlfriend?"

Gu Baiyang: "..."

Sure enough, she was a calculating woman, intent only on marrying up. The man gives her a cold look, steps on the gas, and drives off.

Li Xia watches the dust cloud billow and sighs. Looks like she'll have to stay in the village and deal with all the troublemakers.

But before long, the man drives back and says coldly:

"Didn't you want to go to the provincial capital?"

"Get in."

Li Xia: "..."
