This is an alternate setting with lots of original worldbuilding: an ancient ABO setting that borrows the concept of pheromones, but has no reproductive organs.

Scheming, selfish, aloof Omega x warm, straightforward, puppy-like alpha
The young alpha from the Gou family and the young Omega from the Bai family were neighbors, so they had known each other since childhood.
"Here, have a pastry. Don't cry."
"I don't have a mother anymore."
"It's okay, you still have me. I'll always be by your side."
"Waaah, Mother, Mother!"
"Xiaobai, don't cry. Waaaah, don't cry."
The two little rosy-cheeked bundles hugged each other and cried.
When they were a little older:
"Xiaobai."
"Gougou, I'm almost an adult. You can't keep bringing me pastries like this."
"Why not?"
"Gougou, I'm an Omega. I'm supposed to marry. You're an alpha, and once you're adults, you can't be alone with an Omega whenever you like."

Coming-of-age period.
During an alpha's coming-of-age period, they lose their reason and awareness, becoming nothing but an aroused, violent beast.
There are only two ways to deal with it: restrain them in a room with iron chains, or have a high-ranking Omega cooperate with them. The latter, however, is extremely rare.
Not only was Bai Cen willing, he stayed with Gou Shu through his entire coming-of-age period.
On the last day, the alpha who had never shed a tear, even when beaten so badly he couldn't get out of bed, stumbled around in tears, begging for a doctor.
When the doctor came out, he could only shake his head.
"Gougou, you have to understand. I'm a selfish person."
The Omega an alpha has during their coming-of-age period becomes their lifelong partner. They can never have another Omega. This is the only chance an Omega has to mark an alpha.
"But, Xiaobai, I almost lost you."
Bai Cen was selfish: he'd rather get hurt himself than have to watch his beloved suffer.
