I still can't update this story regularly, so I'll write it slowly.
Important: Updates are irregular, and this is a bad ending. Proceed with caution.
Three years ago, during an international drug-trafficking case, the enemy cut off their own tail like a gecko and destroyed the base, successfully burying all the officers and innocent people in a sea of flames.
A hellscape like molten lava, a black-clad figure with scarlet eyes, a teammate's charred hands, and the screams of hundreds beneath the raging fire: those were the nightmares Si Yan could never escape.
She had to uncover the truth, but digging too deep put her in danger. With no other choice, she was transferred to a prefecture-level city and became deputy captain of the criminal investigation team.
One rainy day, she rescued an amnesiac woman with nowhere to go. Softheartedly, she found the woman a place to live and a job, and gradually helped her get her life back on track.
Then she lost her heart to her...
"Big Sis, you'll help me, right?"
The girl was wrapped in a blanket, soaked through, like a kitten abandoned in the rain. Her eyes were misty, as if she would burst into tears if Si Yan refused.
Si Yan heard herself say, "I will."
"Big Sis, I really like you!"
The girl smiled, innocent yet so sincere. She bought a little bell. "Here, Big Sis, will you accept it? It's my token of love for you!"
Si Yan heard herself say, "All right."
Later, beneath a sky filled with fire, the girl smiled like a flower in full bloom. "Big Sis, if you hadn't fallen for my looks back then, would you still have lost your heart to me?"
Si Yan shook her head. "I would have."
It all began with being attracted to her looks, but in the end, Si Yan was defeated by the girl's wholehearted devotion. How could she not give her heart to someone who loved her so carefully?
But the gulf between their identities could never be crossed. The girl gave her life to fulfill Si Yan's lifelong pursuit, and took the endless sins she had committed with her.
Only Si Yan remained, holding the silver bell with nowhere left to go.
Much later...
The silver bell rings softly, as if an old friend has returned.
Before you start:
1. The romance may involve deaths (I haven't dated anyone), and the crimes are all made up (there are definitely plot holes). Don't treat it as realistic.
2. Nothing gruesome or violent. We're upstanding members of society.
3. Golden finger: Jiang Xuan is unbeatable in a one-on-one fight, has incredible regenerative abilities, and has maxed-out agility and strength.
4. A serious story, which may be sweet or angsty along the way (but I'm a sweet-romance author).
5. There's a little science fiction, but not much, and it won't be explored in depth. Please go easy on my writing.
6. Readers who prefer chaste romances are welcome. Both leads are chaste, with no emotional heartbreak, exes, third parties, or scheming rivals. Love at first sight, with both sides choosing each other.
7. Feel free to point out potential issues.
Theme: Even when things seem hopeless, keep trying to live.
