Then, the very next day, Nian Feng arrives to make trouble. Nian can speak nicely to anyone except him. With Qi, he either says nothing or speaks in a way no one can understand. The two fall into a routine: they team up to solve cases, then immediately fall out as soon as each case is closed... One bizarre, mysterious case follows another. Nameless bones turn up in a desolate mountain wilderness; a mysterious corpse is found in an abandoned cave. The author will do their best to fill in every plot hole. Reader's Guide: 1. This story is entirely fictional, from place names and institutions to workplace arrangements and management structures. Please don't compare the author's made-up settings to reality and complain that they're inaccurate. 2. There are no political conspiracies. All the police officers and civil servants are positive, upright, and full of sunshine! 3. The main plot is solving cases; the secondary plot is romance. The author is terrible at both plot and romance... The next novel is underway: Pursuit [Crime Investigation] After years of tedious research abroad, Yan Sheng returns to China. Three years into his job, Yan Sheng is now director of the forensic center. After work, he goes to a legitimate foot massage parlor to relax, only to find the police raiding it for prostitution. Ye Feng, newly transferred to the force, grabs him by the shoulder and pins him against the wall. The next day, they run into each other in the office building corridor. Ye Feng: "Have we met before?" Yan Sheng: "No. Never..." You pursue the traces. I pursue you.
