He Came for Her

Blurb:

Meng Chengxi, the heiress of the Meng Group, fell for the second son of the Gu family. Everyone thought it was a little absurd.

Gu Jingshen was certainly handsome, but he was cold and distant, hardly the sort of person people liked.

What's more, the Gu family only brought him back when he was sixteen. He was unwelcome by everyone, and in no way seemed like the heir to the Gu Group.

But Meng Chengxi was undeterred. She liked Gu Jingshen, and she planned to keep liking him.

She gave him everything she had, even though he found it distasteful to so much as look at her.

She kept thinking that if she persisted, one day she would surely touch his heart.

But then one day, news came that Gu Jingshen was going to get engaged to the daughter of the Bo family.

Meng Chengxi attended their engagement ceremony and watched him put a ring on her finger with her own eyes. In that moment, she finally gave up on him completely.

She went overseas to study, cut off all contact, and never wanted to return to this place of heartbreak.

Three years later, she returned with her degree and became a top jewelry designer.

At the celebratory banquet, glasses clinked amid a room filled with elegant clothes and perfumed guests. She made her way through the crowd to get another drink, and Gu Jingshen was standing there.

Holding a glass of wine, he lowered his eyes and said in a quiet voice, "You're back."

Gu Jingshen had walked alone for sixteen years, burdened by all the darkness in his life.

He knew that girl loved him. But until he cleared away that darkness and every obstacle, how could he face her?
