A Story About Tormenting Scumbags

Princess Anning is the only legitimate daughter of the Grand Princess. She is born to a noble family and is peerlessly beautiful. A carefully plotted rescue leads Princess Anning to fall in love with Li Xiu'an. She follows him day after day, her heart and eyes filled with nothing but him. Everyone says Anning is hopelessly in love with Li Xiu'an, and he believes it too.

On the surface, Li Xiu'an treats Princess Anning exceedingly well. He even promises the Grand Princess, "If I marry Anning, I will house her in a golden palace." In truth, he marries her only to claim the throne and protect his cousin. Li Xiu'an plans to depose Princess Anning as soon as he becomes emperor, then make his cousin his empress.

After keeping up the charade of a loving marriage for so long, Li Xiu'an finds his whole heart bound to Princess Anning. But then he discovers that she never loved him at all. To her, he is only a substitute. The one Princess Anning loves is his own younger brother, born of the same mother. She married him only to distract herself from her sorrow.

Li Xiu'an drives Princess Anning to the wall in a frenzy, wishing he could squeeze her waist until it snapped. His voice trembling, he says, "How dare you treat me this way?" He strokes her face with his thumb and pleads, "Ning'er, please, just look at me."
