A Kiss on the Ear, Like Fireworks

A rebellious, streetwise hip-hop boss and a spirited, prickly girl

The first time Sang Zhi met Shen Zhuli in a bar, he set the place ablaze with a rap performance, singing and dancing to a deafening roar of cheers. He was bold and uninhibited.

Sang Zhi's brow twitched. Her instincts were sharp: she needed to stay far away from this dangerous man.

She had just turned eighteen that year and was about to move in with someone else.

Later, the tip of his nose brushed back and forth over her forehead. It tickled, accompanied by his deep, heavy breathing.

On a windy night, the cold seeped through her, yet a thin sheen of sweat broke out on her back.

Sang Zhi reached out and pushed his face away. "Why are you acting like a puppy?"

She still couldn't get away.

Later still, his album Golden Bough won him the title of double-crowned king of pop, and the name of musical genius B. Wind became a sensation.

But busybodies noticed that he kept appearing beside a young girl. Wasn't she supposedly a high school student?

The usually low-key hip-hop boss declared to the cameras, "If you expose her, I'll quit the industry."

The uproar was immediate.

Five years passed in a flash. He had become the king of rap and a music-industry powerhouse. On top of that, his prestigious position as head of the Shen family made him someone nobody dared to provoke.

But he never sang Golden Bough again.

When an interviewer asked why he no longer performed his signature song,

he gave a faint smile and said nothing.

★ She is a golden bird on a branch, arriving in a beam of light and taking wing.

He is willing to cross mountains and climb peaks, just to share the sunlight with her. ★

Golden Bough is sung for you.

A slow-burn romance
