Her face remained cold as she let him hold her. She had returned to ask him for just one thing: to trade her heart for his flesh and blood. It was only fair.
The wind fell still. The four-seasons-like-spring Penglai Palace was suddenly covered in frost and snow.
After a long silence,
"All right." His eyes flickered, and his fists clenched. "Whatever you want, I'll give you. As long as you'll come back, even if..." His voice trembled. "Even if it costs me my life."
He had once loved and treasured her, and now he could cast her aside and hate her. She had gone from indifference to madness over him. Perhaps it was all because he realized the truth too late.
