My Childhood Friend Is His Majesty the First Emperor [Qin Dynasty Transmigration]

Ji Raoyu was born into the Warring States period.

Her father was a merchant from Zhao. To raise his status while traveling, he often bragged that he was descended from the Zhou royal family, just managing to pass himself off as a noble. In truth, his ancestors had merely fed the horses and driven carriages for the Zhou royal house. They had been granted the Ji surname for saving their master's life.

Next door to the Ji family lived a beautiful woman, said to have once been a dancer. After her man ran off, she made a living sewing and mending clothes while raising her son. Their life was very poor.

The woman was surnamed Zhao and was known as Zhao Ji. Her son was apparently called Zheng'er. He was handsome, but had a solitary, difficult temperament.

Ji Raoyu was a womanizer. She often climbed over the wall to seek out someone who gave her the cold shoulder, and occasionally helped him out.

One day, passing through a narrow alley, Ji Raoyu saw several people surrounding and bullying Zheng'er. The boy's eyes were dark and cold as he raised his sword to kill them.

Blood ran along the ground. Ji Raoyu tried to stop him, but no one listened.

Trembling, Ji Raoyu could only hurry home. From then on, she never climbed over the wall again.

When she grew older, her family's business was handed over to her.

She had plenty of ideas for making money, including one highly profitable business that was all her own: pig farming, from breeding stock to meat processing.

Pork was expensive at the time, and few people ate it. But the Ji family's pork was delicious and reasonably priced.

After several years in business, Ji Raoyu became a well-known merchant far and wide.

Knowing that Qin would eventually unify the realm and destroy Zhao, Ji Raoyu moved her entire family to Qin in advance.

Since she was already there, Ji Raoyu very much wanted to meet the emperor who would be remembered for millennia.

So she bribed a palace official, hoping to meet Ying Zheng and present him with a treasure, in the hope that this future emperor would unify the world.

In a dimly lit chamber, the emperor looked down imperiously.

Ji Raoyu bowed. When she raised her head, her face was full of shock: the man before her was none other than the isolated, difficult boy who had lived next door in Handan.
