"The Wutong Tree Knows Nothing of Autumn"

Nancheng No. 1 High School once had two star students it could boast about.

The school beauty, Jiang Jitong, landed the female lead role in her very first film after becoming an actress. Rumor had it her family was so rich they donated a building to the school. That was probably made up, though. Otherwise, how did she end up fading into obscurity?

The genius, He Shiqiu, turned down a place at a top university, went abroad to study, and returned to donate an entire building to the school, as well as establish a scholarship fund.

The two buildings faced each other, like the young man and woman who once stood opposite each other beneath the blazing sun.

“Have you made up your mind? I won't try to stop you this time.” The cool, haughty boy spoke stiffly, though a rare plea showed in his eyes.

“Yeah. I don't want to see you again.”

The girl's resolute figure remained frozen in his memories.

Six years later, Jiang Jitong, a transparent actress who had spent nearly half a year lazing around at home, was dragged to a dinner by her agent.

“Today's host controls half the entertainment industry. If you get on his good side, you won't have to worry about getting roles.”

When the private-room door opened, Jiang Jitong recognized the man at the head of the table. His faded school uniform had been replaced by a bespoke suit, all traces of youthful awkwardness gone. He even wore the rimless glasses she hated most.

Seeing her enter, the man raised his eyes, his voice distant and indifferent.

“Who are you?”

Jiang Jitong curled her lips into a polite, awkward smile. “Sorry, wrong room.”

She was just about to run when the door slammed shut.

A warm touch pressed against her forearm. The man gripped her hand and forced the words out through clenched teeth.

“Jiang Jitong! Where do you think you're running?”
