If It's Not Your Child, I Don't Want It

This is the tenth year I’ve loved him. Now I am his empress, three months pregnant. But I know he doesn’t love me. The person he loves is his Noble Consort. So when the Noble Consort pushed me into the lake and caused me to miscarry, he merely punished her by making her copy Buddhist scriptures. Then he turned to comfort me: “We can have another child. I will punish the Noble Consort severely.” I rested a hand on my belly. “I jumped into the water myself. Don’t blame the Noble Consort.” He was silent for a long time. “Why?” I looked at him tenderly. “It wasn’t your child. I didn’t want it.” Content warnings: [Important: This is an old-school tragic romance with outrageous, melodramatic plot twists.
