The Prince Duan's Consort Has Fallen for Someone Else

[Unless something unexpected happens, this should be a short story] Everyone in the capital knows that Prince Duan is a good-for-nothing who spends every night at houses of pleasure. He's no good as a husband. And yet the daughter of General Yu, who has been engaged to Prince Duan since childhood, is hopelessly devoted to him. Everyone in the capital says Miss Yu must have something wrong with her eyes. Only Miss Yu, Yu Rui, knows what she herself is thinking. In her previous life, that person made a promise with her before he died: they would be husband and wife again in their next life. Naturally, she intends to keep her word. But that person... How could someone as refined as the moonlight and a gentle breeze be so different after reincarnation? He was stealing chickens and dogs as a child, and chasing women as an adult. Yu Rui thinks he may have bumped his head while being reincarnated. She'll make do. It's like raising a foolish son. "Miss, Prince Duan smashed the hangover soup you made again." Yu Rui didn't even look up from her book. "It's fine. Send him another bowl." "Miss Yu, our prince ordered us not to accept any more of the paintings and calligraphy you send." "Then so be it." Yu Rui good-naturedly had someone take the paintings and calligraphy back to her home. Even when a courtesan who thought she'd won Prince Duan's favor shamelessly came knocking at the residence, Miss Yu could calmly "escort" her back out. Yu Rui thought that, at worst, she'd spend her whole life in this chaotic mess. Then, during the Lantern Festival that year, beneath a sky full of fireworks, a handsome young man blushingly caught her by the sleeve. "Have we met before?" Yu Rui assumed he was hitting on her and was just about to turn him down. But when she turned around, she noticed a familiar marriage cord tied around his wrist. Well, it turned out she'd mistaken the wrong person for eighteen years. The next day, everyone in the capital heard a piece of explosive news: the daughter of General Yu was breaking off her engagement. Even more explosive was that Prince Duan was furious. Theme: You always have to pay for your mistakes.
