Figure Skating: I'm Better Suited for the Olympics

“When you test how hard a piece of glass is, it is destined to shatter. In other words, once suspicion begins, the verdict is already in.”, Cicada Woman This was written in 2020. I couldn't predict that someone would land a 4A in 2022, or that a Japanese skater would announce a relationship that year. If I really had the gift of prophecy, I'd rather predict lottery numbers than other people's love lives. Our country's top male figure skater is a steady competitor who delivers outstanding performances at every major event. He's an excellent athlete and has nothing to do with the erratic skater in this story. The character's surname is Jin because, in the story's setup, he's Korean. I like Korean, Mongolian, and Uyghur people, and I love fish cakes from Korean cuisine, Mongolian milk liquor, and Xinjiang's Xiyuchun yogurt. That's why I wrote characters from these ethnic minorities into the story. And athletic techniques aren't anyone's exclusive property. Plenty of people in real life and fiction perform fadeaway jump shots, but no one accuses them of copying Jordan or Kobe. If people weren't allowed to repeat moves pioneered by those before them, would everyone have to stand smiling on the rink during competitions from now on? I deeply respect many athletes and will never speak ill of them. Even when attacked by fan groups, I can recognize that the athletes themselves have nothing to do with it, and still hold them in high regard, because they deserve respect. But I believe an athlete's glory comes from their own ability and hard work, not from fan groups putting others down and subjecting them to online harassment. Fan groups have no right to attack people in an athlete's name, either. After all, athletes don't rely on fans to speak for them, and they don't want their fans attacking people. If you like an athlete, watch more of their competitions, cheer them on, and become a better person for their sake. Lastly, some people have called me things like “I hope something happens to you,” “old woman,” and “meal-ticket girl.” I've taken screenshots. Please stop harassing me through private messages on Weibo or spamming negative comments on my posts. It's unfortunate, but I don't know how to fight back against things like leaving negative reviews on a book with zero subscribers, combing through scattered passages to accuse me of plagiarism, or blaming me for a keychain that has nothing to do with me. Some people seem to think that as long as they only make insinuations and don't directly use abusive language, they can avoid legal consequences. I don't really understand that, either. I've followed a few legal bloggers for now to see if there's a way to protect myself, but I won't expose them or harass others in the same way. I won't do that. I hope these people will soon forget someone as insignificant as me and fill their minds with more important studies. I also need to focus on work, so I hope we can all forget those who upset us amid our busy lives. I love figure skating. When I used to write fanfiction, I couldn't resist finding a way to work in figure skating. I'll probably keep watching competitions and saving up to cheer athletes on in person, but I won't write figure-skating stories anymore. Thank you to everyone who enjoyed this story and supported it through legitimate channels. I won't close the comments, because they contain the comments you've left me. They're my treasure. Thank you, and thanks again. Lastly, I wish everyone good health, prosperity, success in all things, and happiness every day. These are my most sincere wishes. Also, I never intended to encourage anyone to attack any athletes or their fans, because I have no ability to control what anyone thinks. We're all people capable of independent thought. If authors had such a magical power, I'd be a big name by now. The only thing the author wants for figure skating is for our country's skaters to rise to prominence soon, for athletes to suffer fewer injuries, and for young skaters to make it through puberty successfully. But the author hasn't spoken about real-life figure skating in any setting for several years. The only time the author ever showed aggression was when someone cursed my family in a private message on Weibo. I was furious and said things like, “Does your brother know you go around insulting people for his sake?” But even then, I didn't use profanity to insult anyone, did I? Looking back, what I said wasn't right. After years of online wars coming and going, many people have seen the truth: those extremists aren't fans, and they don't even like the sport. They just enjoy the strange sense of moral superiority that comes from judging others. They haven't learned anything good from the athletes, and they have nothing to do with the athletes or their fans. Theme: With the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Winter Olympics approaching, this story pays tribute to athletes who pour their hearts into pursuing their dreams and strive to bring glory to their country, and recommends the most beautiful winter sport, figure skating, to all the adorable little angels.
