The Actor's Look at Me Seems Off

The gravely ill young designer Cheng Xiaohan transmigrates into an entertainment-industry novel and becomes a sleazy, minor actor who fails to sneak into the movie emperor Jing Mo's room.

He's a laughingstock across the internet, and it's hell from the start. But that's okay, at least he's still alive.

What Cheng Xiaohan never expected was that the book he'd transmigrated into was a bizarre world where everyone was getting together and shipping couples.

Cheng Xiaohan has a bit of an emotional cleanliness obsession. He's been single for twenty-three years, so how could he throw away his dignity now?

Sent by his agency to join a talent show, he watches everyone else fall in love. While they fake couples and stir up hype, he just hopes he'll get eliminated soon.

Online discussion: Is Cheng Xiaohan, this nobody, just showing off or trying to create buzz?

Cheng Xiaohan: Neither. This is called turning over a new leaf and becoming a better person.

He finally makes it to the first public performance, and Cheng Xiaohan glances at the guest seats. Why is the person sitting there looking at him so strangely?

Jing Mo: That's exactly how you should look at me. You dare have ideas about me? I'll send you far, far away today.

Cheng Xiaohan: Thank you, Movie Emperor. I don't want to stay here another minute.

Jing Mo: ...

A year later, several popular actors in the industry are invited to a family gathering hosted by a film director.

After a few drinks, Jing Mo corners Cheng Xiaohan, who has just won Best Newcomer, outside the restroom and finally asks, "Do you even like me or not?"

No real-life inspirations, entirely fictional.
