As Summer Draws to a Close

That summer, David Jiang met a girl after a brief trip back to China.

She studied history, was young and carefree, and never called him by his name properly.

On the first day, she called him "Dai Wei" and asked if he was a foreign gentleman.

On the second day, she called him "Jiang David" and teased him for being a stuffy gentleman.

On the third day, she called him "David Jiang" and said she was better at foreign history.

On the fourth day, she called him "Jiang Suiguang." She told him her name was Fang Qiuning, that she was born in autumn, and that her parents had worried she would grow up too rigid and not smooth enough, so they hoped she would find a peaceful place of her own where she could settle down.

Summer passed, and David Jiang had to return to London. Fang Qiuning said she wouldn't leave everything behind here and go with him.

He thought he was falling for Fang Qiuning, but taking her away would be unfair to her.

Later, Fang Qiuning followed him to England and asked if he wanted to marry her.

From that moment on, David Jiang decided to be the man standing behind her.

"You chase your dreams. I'll be your foundation in reality."
