I’m an Auror at Scotland Yard

After graduating from magic school, Si Cheng joined the Ancient Church's Tribunal. Assigned to the North American branch, she became a magical law enforcement officer.

The new employee handbook began with just three key points:

1. We cooperate with local secular police.

2. We only arrest suspects connected to the mystical, magical, or Protestant wizarding worlds, and do not interfere with secular law.

3. Ancient Church mages are people, too.

Although those first three points sounded like rules from an urban legend and made no sense, the rest of the handbook was genuinely useful.

Si Cheng spent three years at the North American branch, practicing at the shooting range, learning to use guns, and memorizing laws alongside her secular police colleagues. She rose from rookie trainee to full officer, then became a detective.

The difference was that every person or creature she faced on a call had magic.

This peaceful exile, far from the Ancient Church Tribunal's European headquarters, lasted until the fourth year after her graduation. Then all of North America was shrouded beneath the clouds of a dark magic conspiracy, and she found a way to save everyone.

Afterward, Si Cheng was transferred back to Europe for her own protection, to the British branch, less than half a city away from headquarters.

Si Cheng, Asian woman, 26, recently transferred from the North American branch to the British branch, rank of inspector, serving as an enforcer for the Ancient Church Tribunal.

Her new workplace was Scotland Yard, yes, the very same Scotland Yard featured in countless detective novels, especially the Sherlock Holmes stories.

Si Cheng thought that being in the British branch really was different. Somehow, she'd ended up as an Auror at Scotland Yard.

But when her first day ended and she went back to the station to report in, she realized the problem.

The precinct chief standing before her, or rather Menessa Lyons, district judge for the British branch of the Ancient Church Tribunal, looked a little like one of the women she'd spent several wild nights with before leaving North America.

But the problem was that the woman back then had said her name was Sasha, spoken with a Russian accent, and claimed to be in LA for a conference.

Anyway, the tired old plot of "I had a one-night stand and now she's my new boss" had actually happened to her. Si Cheng's life really was full of twists and turns.
