The Inner Palace

[Title To Be Decided]

Gu Ying has served in the palace for ten years. Then, with one sudden turn of events, she falls from her position at the head of the Six Departments into the mud.

When the news spreads through the six palaces, those who used to fear her rejoice in secret, thinking they can finally trample her underfoot and avenge their past humiliation.

But they've all forgotten how she once climbed, step by step, from the most obscure and wretched corner of this deep palace.

In the bitter cold at year's end, a man leans against a red-lacquered pillar in the covered walkway, looking askance at the person kneeling in the middle of the courtyard.

After a long while, he gives a quiet laugh. "Gu Ying, you've really fallen on hard times."

Feathery snow drifts down, settling on her long lashes and melting into her loosely pinned black hair.

Gu Ying lowers her eyes and says nothing. She waits for the man to leave after mocking her, but the next moment, a broad hand appears in her line of sight.

"Shall I help you get even?"

A heroine who is ruthless and doesn't waste words (not really).

* A fully leveled palace maid returns to the starting village. *
