Synopsis

1. The year Ming Suyi came of age, her life was turned upside down.

First, her father, who had written nearly a hundred elegies for his late wife, remarried. From then on, it was as if she no longer had a father.

Next, her grandmother and the other elders who had always doted on her urged her to be understanding of how difficult it was to be a stepmother, forcing her to give in on all sorts of matters. From then on, it seemed she no longer had any family, either.

Later, the Marquis of Wei's household, whose son had been betrothed to her since childhood, abruptly broke off the engagement.
