A Beauty Peeks Over the East Wall

Reading Guide: A sweet, fluffy story, one-on-one romance, happy ending. Set in an especially loosely imagined world of gender equality, with lots of personal worldbuilding and no concern for historical accuracy. Questions are welcome as long as they're asked politely. Blurb: The Court of State Ceremonial's minister doesn't drink; The Court of State Ceremonial's minister doesn't go on blind dates; The Court of State Ceremonial's minister loves climbing over walls; The Court of State Ceremonial's minister is a beauty. The newly appointed Court of State Ceremonial minister, Yang Shenxing, says: First, back then, I finished a jug of wine and my fiancée disappeared without a trace. Why the hell would I drink again? Second, why the hell would someone with a fiancée go on a blind date? Third, I swear to heaven, that mark on the eastern wall definitely wasn't left by me climbing over it! Finally, my fiancée likes beautiful people, so I'll stay beautiful forever. Blurb Two: Foreign envoy (respectfully): May I ask, Lord Yang, what does "Your green collar, my heart's desire; though I do not go to you, why have you not sent word? Though I do not go to you, why have you not come?" mean? Yang Shenxing (with grave dignity): It means, "You bastard, I didn't come looking for you, and you dare to run off without a word? Why the hell couldn't you come find me?" Foreign envoy (as if enlightened, amazed and impressed): Lord Yang is brilliant! May I ask who taught you? Shen Wei (thinking): Hmm, why does it sound like I taught him? Foreign envoy (puzzled): May I ask who you are, miss? Shen Wei (smiling): Shen Wei, formerly a martial guard at the Imperial Capital General Office of the Embroidered Uniform Guard under the Court of Imperial Entertainments, formerly a general of the Western Expedition with the Jiannan Iron Cavalry, and now head of the Court of State Ceremonial minister's guards. Yang Shenxing (sneering): She's that bastard who ran off, my fiancée. Shen Wei (sneering +1): Former fiancée. We broke off the engagement six years ago. Yang Shenxing (sneering +2): Broke it off? Who said that? Shen Wei (sneering +2): You did. I agreed. Yang Shenxing (going berserk +100): I! Do! Not! Agree! This story is set in an extremely loosely imagined world with gender equality.
