The Extraordinary Rosalind

Nineteen-year-old Rosaline Poirot has been immersed in the world of criminal investigation since childhood. Her grandfather is the renowned detective Poirot. She grew up in England alongside Miss Marple, absorbing all kinds of useful and useless knowledge. Deductive reasoning comes naturally to her, and she even inherited her grandfather's unique talent: a passive skill that causes murders to happen wherever she goes. Everyone expects Rosaline to follow in her grandfather's footsteps and become a great detective, but she has little interest in doing so. Rosaline: Being a detective is so boring. I want to be the brightest singing star on the Broadway stage! So she boards a ship bound for New York, never guessing that another passenger is the seventy-year-old Mr. Sherlock Holmes, who has decided to travel to America after a major case. Old Mr. Holmes: My dear friend, what a dreadful waste of talent! Jay Gatsby: Dear Rosaline, in view of... the personal safety of Broadway's performers and staff, I suggest you take up detective work instead! The idea of a "Poirot's granddaughter" came from a childhood misconception of mine. When I was little, I remembered the girl in the animated series Detective Poirot and Miss Marple as Poirot's granddaughter. I thought it would be fun to write a story about it. Old Mr. Holmes is based on Ian's portrayal in the film Mr. Holmes.
