The Greek Gods in New York

I, Nicole Hawke, am a fifteen-year-old high school girl from Brooklyn, New York. I live an ordinary life, but I have a mysterious problem I can't tell anyone about. For example, the refined and handsome man who declares his love and proposes to me every day is actually Apollo, the god of light. The popular New York City mayor, who is preparing to run for president, is really Athena, goddess of wisdom. And my single dad, who hardly ever speaks, only knows how to drive a truck, and might be a little nuts, turns out to be Ares, the god of war. Zeus, the old lecher who keeps dropping by for free meals: The gods have lost their divine powers and their ability to reproduce. You are the chosen one who will discover the reason and save the Olympian pantheon! Me: Sure, sure, sure! Classes and studying are so boring. What do you need me to do, go on adventures, fight monsters, and build a harem? Zeus: First, get into an Ivy League school. Your grandfather doesn't ask for much. Harvard will do. Me: ???? This story was inspired by Neil Gaiman's novel American Gods. It's not a crossover with superheroes or any Western films or TV shows. It's Greek mythology fanfiction (and also involves other mythologies), but the story is simply about "the gods in the twenty-first century," so you can just read it as an original work. [The next story Jiang Hua plans to write] The Great Rosalind Nineteen-year-old Rosalind Poirot has been immersed in the world of criminal investigation since childhood. Her grandfather is the famous detective Poirot. She grew up in England with Miss Marple, learning all kinds of useful and useless things by watching and listening. Deductive reasoning comes naturally to her, and she even inherited her grandfather's unique talent: the passive ability to stumble upon a murder wherever she goes. Everyone expects Rosalind to follow in her grandfather's footsteps and become a famous detective, but Rosalind isn't interested. Rosalind: Being a detective is so dull. I want to be the brightest singing star on the Broadway stage! So she boards a ship bound for New York, never imagining that also aboard is Mr. Sherlock Holmes, now sixty-five, who has decided to head to America because of a major case. Old Mr. Holmes: My dear friend, what a terrible waste of talent! Jay Gatsby: My dear Rosalind, in view of... the safety of Broadway's actors and staff, I recommend you change careers and become a detective! Orphaned at a young age, she was brought into the palace by the empress. She can sing and dance, and her beauty is unmatched. Whether the empress was alive or several new emperors had taken the throne, they all doted on her. Wu Ling'er: My great-aunt is an emperor, my two maternal cousins are emperors, and my cousin is an emperor too... As long as I don't get myself killed, once I manage to leave the palace, eating well, drinking well, and keeping male favorites will be no problem! Li Longji smiled: Ha! What kind of daydream is my cousin having? Theme: The heroine stands on her own two feet and saves the world by studying hard.
