After transferring schools, Chu Yuan went sightseeing at the ruins of Guyandu. Among a pile of rubble outside the old city wall, she picked up a faded photograph.
The young man in the photo wore a black-and-gold dragon robe. His long, elegant fingers lifted the beads of his crown, and his beautiful eyes gleamed with a sharp, sinister light.
On the back of the photograph was a date: the fifteenth day of the eighth month, third year of Tianxun.
After returning from the ruins of Yandu, Chu Yuan dreamed every night of the young man seated on the throne.
She dreamed of his confused, filthy childhood as a slave, and of the years he spent driving himself mad in the mire, plotting at every turn and clawing his way to the top by any means necessary...
The year he finally founded a dynasty of his own, he used the sword in his hand to kill every surrendered official in the great hall. Then he sat on the throne, lifted the beads of his crown, and laughed with abandon.
A thousand years ago, the slave Wei Zhaoling overthrew the old dynasty that had stood on the Yue River Plain for four hundred years and founded his own Nightlan Dynasty.
In the sixth year of Tianxun, four kingdoms joined forces to attack Wei Zhaoling, the tyrant of Nightlan.
The Nightlan Dynasty lasted six years before it fell in a single day.
For a thousand years, no one knew what had become of Wei Zhaoling, the tyrant of Nightlan.
But Chu Yuan found his tomb.
In the depths of the underground palace, inside a stone coffin encrusted with gold and jade, lay the king who had slept for a thousand years.
When he opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was a young woman, her face streaked with tears and terror.
Thousands of clay soldiers shattered, and the ministers and troops who had slept beside the King of Nightlan for a thousand years awoke with them. They would follow their eternal king and restore the glory of a thousand years ago.
Optimistic, adorable heroine X tyrant who slept for a thousand years
It's also a healing, sweet romance. Basically, a heroine living in an era where love and peace go hand in hand teaches a tyrant whose internet has been disconnecting for a thousand years how to be a decent person and live a good life.
P.S. The historical setting is very loosely based on history.
The photograph mentioned in the blurb isn't a plot hole. There's a reason for it, which will be explained in the story.
This is Shanzhizi's first attempt at changing her writing style and practicing plot construction, so please bear with me.
I revise this story often. The official and pirated versions differ hugely, making the pirated version incoherent. If you're reading a pirated copy, please don't come to my comments section.

Theme: Healing all unhappiness.
It's so cool. I finished it in one go. Yuanyuan and Wang will always be so happy in the parallel world.
