After the Disabled God of War Married Me as a Concubine

[The audio drama of the same name is now available on Maoer FM.] [The simplified Chinese second volume is out. See Weibo @Liu Gouhua for details.] According to unofficial histories, the Great Liang war god Huo Wujiu was once captured by an enemy state, had his meridians severed and both legs crippled, and was locked away in a dungeon. To humiliate him, the foolish emperor even bestowed him as a concubine upon his own younger brother, who preferred men. General Huo endured every humiliation and bided his time for three years. Then he faked his death and escaped back to Great Liang. After his legs were healed, he led his army to the enemy capital in three months, killed its ruler, burned the city to the ground, and finally beheaded that useless, men-loving prince. His head hung from the city wall for three whole years. And so, the realm was united. Jiang Suizhou, a history professor at a university, received a student's thesis based on the unofficial history of Huo Wujiu and gave the student a thorough scolding. When he opened his eyes again, he had become the men-loving prince from the unofficial history. The residence was decked out in festive decorations, and a servant reported that the crippled general from the enemy state had just been carried into the manor in a bridal sedan. Facing General Huo, who was dressed in a bright red wedding robe, badly injured, and glaring at him with cold, sinister eyes, Jiang Suizhou realized that even unofficial histories could come true. And they could leave him beheaded, with his head hanging from the city wall for three years. Jiang Suizhou had no choice but to take good care of General Huo. He gritted his teeth and shielded him from political attacks and the foolish emperor's endless humiliations, asking only that three years later, Huo Wujiu spare his head. He didn't dare let this nine-foot-tall “concubine” actually wait on him, either. But before three years had passed, General Huo's legs miraculously healed on their own. Not only did he kill the foolish emperor and unite the realm, he also cornered Jiang Suizhou in his room and insisted on fulfilling his duties as a “concubine.” Upcoming story: “Who Wants to Be a Cannon-Fodder Villain?!” On the eve of the spring examination results, Xiao Zhuoqing, the legitimate son of the Duke of Yan, dreamed of his future. He would place first in the palace examinations, enter the Hanlin Academy, lecture at the imperial court, and become famous across the realm at a young age. At his celebration banquet, an impoverished, nameless young man would show up with a tattered sachet and ask for his elder sister's hand in marriage. The sachet looked like something he'd picked up off the street. The young man was lazy, living off his dwindling wealth, and full of wild boasts. Xiao Zhuoqing glanced at him once, then threw him and his belongings out of the Duke's manor. Only afterward did he realize he was in a brainless wish-fulfillment novel called “Treading the Path of Kings and Lords,” and that the young man was Wang Yuan, the story's chosen one. As for Xiao Zhuoqing, he was an arrogant noble who looked down on others, the sort Wang Yuan would casually humiliate and crush once he reached the top and surrounded himself with lovers. When reality and the dream aligned perfectly, Xiao Zhuoqing saw the chosen one at his own celebration banquet, declaring, “Don't bully a poor young man!” Now that he knew the future, should he get close to the chosen one early and share in his wealth once he made it big? In your dreams. Looking at the young man, who was ignorant, vulgar, ill-mannered, and obsessed with getting something for nothing, Xiao Zhuoqing stepped in front of his flustered, tearful elder sister and once again threw Wang Yuan out of the Duke's manor without changing his expression. Everyone said that Lord Xiao had changed after passing the examinations. The young duke, once a model of propriety, was as aloof as snow on a mountaintop. He rose through the ranks to become a prominent new figure in court. He stood up for the wronged and was a brilliant strategist in times of crisis. He even accepted the regent's request to enter the palace and tutor the puppet emperor. In the depths of winter, despite the strange looks from those around him, he reached out and pulled a gloomy, solitary boy from a freezing pond. Only Xiao Zhuoqing knew that he was reclaiming the fortune Wang Yuan had stolen, while raising the great villain who, without the plot's intervention, could crush Wang Yuan with one hand. All he had to do was wait for the day he could fight fate itself. But before Wang Yuan could have his big break and rise to power, the great villain crushed him with a single finger. Xiao Zhuoqing, who had prepared for every contingency and was waiting for his great enemy to arrive: ? The young ruler, powerful and coldly sinister, had eyes as deep as an abyss. He gently twirled a lock of hair on Xiao Zhuoqing's shoulder. “Anyone who keeps upsetting you, sir, deserves to be hacked to pieces.” Reading Guide * Updated daily at nine in the evening.
