I'll Carry You to Victory [Esports]

When he was sixteen, Jing Yuan met a scammer in a game.

The other player didn't scam him out of money or play with his feelings, but still left him with a memory he would never forget.

Six years later, he ran into the same account in the same game. Its owner was pulling the same trick again:

"Want to be a couple?"

Jing Yuan smiled faintly and typed four words into the public chat, just as he had back then:

"I'll carry you."

Xia Li, a former world champion, decided in the fourth year of his professional career to switch from AD carry to support. He also changed his ID from Ting to Tolight.

As soon as the news broke,

his haters celebrated, mocking him for being delusional,

while his fans worried he was being too reckless.

Just when everyone thought Xia Li was destined to end his career in regret, he suddenly announced that he was forming a new team and invited talented players to join.

Xia Li was so busy putting the new team together that he was caught off guard when he learned his younger cousin had taken his game account to find an online boyfriend.

Looking at the familiar account name on the screen, Xia Li asked his cousin, who was in the throes of young love and practically radiating hormones: "You want to find a couple?"

His cousin, Dugu Qinglang, replied: "Of course!"

Xia Li gave a smile that was almost a smirk. "He was already my partner four years ago. No one but me gets to pair up with him."

The S11 Spring Split was about to begin. Amid great anticipation, PGE announced its final player.

PGE-Tolight declared during a livestream:

"Let me officially introduce PGE's AD carry, Foright. He's my teammate, and the player I'll protect from now on."

After the Spring Split, everyone said Tolight had changed.

The aggressive AD carry Ting, who used to treat the opposing AD like a punching bag, was gone for good.

The support Tolight, who once controlled the whole game and bossed his own AD around, was nowhere to be found.

All that remained was a Tolight who catered to the new AD but came down hard on his old teammate, the top laner.

The top laner, who had been Xia Li's teammate since he first started competing, went on livestream and lamented to everyone: "What a scumbag! An absolute scumbag! Childhood friends really can't beat the new arrival!"

Five minutes later, Xia Li, now branded a scumbag, posted a screenshot of himself and Jing Yuan duo-queuing six years earlier.

- Tolight

- Foright

He even posted a statement of his own to set the record straight: "The real childhood friend is right here. That top laner sure thinks highly of himself."
