After Reincarnating as the Immortal Lord's Tribulation

Shang Yu happened to acquire an ancient painting.

In the painting, an immortal with flowing robes stood among the ruins, drinking wine and painting. Looking closer, the face of the person the immortal was painting seemed to resemble Shang Yu's by eighty percent.

That very night, Shang Yu was sucked into the painting.

When he woke up, there was a neurotic System in his head.

The System said that the person in the painting was an immortal who had descended to the mortal world to undergo a tribulation. In this life, his fate was full of hardship: he had little affection from his family and no chance at love. He was utterly pitiful.

And Shang Yu was the tribulation destined for the immortal. To complete his mission, he had to help the immortal successfully undergo his tribulation and return to the upper realm.

Although Shang Yu didn't understand why he'd inexplicably become the immortal lord's emotional tribulation, he dutifully completed each task the System assigned him to stay alive.

When the immortal finally fell in love with Shang Yu, the System was overjoyed and immediately gave Shang Yu his final task.

The System urged him, “He's completely devoted to you now. All you have to do is die right in front of him, and the final mission will be complete!”

Shang Yu had had enough. “Do you want to hear yourself? Honestly, you lousy System, I've been sick of you for a long time.”

The System: ?!!

Shang Yu naturally noticed the immortal's gaze growing increasingly strange and heated whenever it fell on him.

In this life, the immortal wasn't supposed to love anyone. Yet when forced to choose between his own life and Shang Yu's, he would give up his own without hesitation to save Shang Yu.

Watching this, Shang Yu thought that he really was the immortal's tribulation in this life.

Later, Shang Yu still died in front of the immortal.

Later still, the immortal brought Shang Yu back to life in a warm embrace. Five hundred years had passed since the grand revenge that had nearly overturned the Three Realms.

* The main characters do not have a substitute romance plot.

* The author is a die-hard fan of the two leads as a couple and will ship them hard.

* The worldbuilding is available on the author's page for additional reading, but some original settings are unusual and may spoil the story.
