A Little Sweetness

Sheng Rao runs into He Lanshen three times.

The first time, she brings her pet in for a skin infection. In his white protective suit, he is as pure as a snow-covered peak, his voice low and soft:

"Drink more hot water."

The second time, she brings her nephew in for a cough. Seated behind the consultation table, he is aloof and proud, his voice husky:

"Drink more hot water."

The third time, she has menstrual cramps herself, and his beautiful, peach-blossom eyes, peeking above his mask, sweep gently over her, glistening with tenderness:

"Drink more hot water."

What the hell is with all this "drink more hot water"?!

Wait, Dr. He, so aloof and pure as a snow-covered peak, you treat pets and children, colds and menstrual cramps. What exactly is your specialty?!

Not long after, Sheng Rao and her colleagues see him again at an international epidemiology conference.

He takes the stage and speaks with dazzling authority, sharp and assured,

leaving her colleagues clutching their hearts and squealing: That leading scholar is so hot, it's almost criminal!

Sheng Rao remembers how he crowded onto the edge of her bed last night, stole her fawn-patterned blanket, and rubbed against the nape of her neck, his voice hoarse and tender: "Sis, your blanket smells so good."

He asked in a hoarse voice, "Sis, could you kiss me?"

Sheng Rao rose onto her toes.

Through the glass door, she kissed his lips.
