A Journey to Life [Suspense]

[Blurb]

Xia Manghuo arranged online to end her life with someone. But the road to death turned out to be full of obstacles: sometimes the tools didn't work, and other times she was interrupted by accident. She even happened to save a young man from drowning along the way.

After awkwardly dealing with all that, she finally got to go up the mountain with the man as planned. They picked a lush tree with a wide-open view. But just as she had tied the rope, before she could put it around her neck, the man beside her suddenly said, “I'm a little hungry. Live one more day and come eat some chicken with me.”

Xia Manghuo: “???”

Xia Manghuo thought her life was just as her name sounded: a whole lot of pointless hustling.

Until one day, she met that man. He came toward her carrying a body full of secrets, close to her yet far away, like the reflection of a star just within reach on the water.

Again and again, he pulled her back from the brink of death and told her, “Just like your name, you're summer, light, and warmth.”

(The story follows five points of view that come together to form a complete tale. I wanted to try nonlinear storytelling.)

Theme: Pay attention to mental health.
