The Professionalism of a Redemption Novel's Heroine

In 1998, Tao Xuqiu had a dream. Someone told her she was the heroine of a heartbreaking redemption novel.

The male lead had no love from either parent. Though exceptionally clever, he had a tragic childhood that made him stubborn and rebellious.

A second-grade student suddenly had something on her mind, which led to her sleeping too much, eating too much, and letting her thoughts run wild. Her parents had to drag her off to school.

Tao Xuqiu, who had just decided to look up the meaning of "redemption" in the dictionary: Forget it, studying is exhausting!

A new student had recently transferred into her class. He was handsome and got excellent grades, so the teacher seated him next to Tao Xuqiu.

Tao Xuqiu liked her new deskmate very much. When it was time to hand out milk during recess, she gave him his first. Seeing him choke on it three times, Tao Xuqiu suddenly understood. She rushed over and shouted:

"Book! Save the book!"

In high school, Tao Xuqiu became obsessed with romance novels. She recited the description of the male lead: unloved by his parents, a tragic childhood, sickly, stubborn and rebellious...

Then she leaned back against Ren Congyu's legs.

"So novels really are all lies."

Ren Congyu asked, "Could it be that you have the wrong person?"

Tao Xuqiu answered firmly, "Impossible!"

The boy gave her a knowing smile. "Is that so?"

Tao Xuqiu clutched her heart. "How can you doubt my professional judgment?"

After the college entrance exams, Tao Xuqiu showed off her province-topping score report. "After more than a decade of studying, you lost the top spot at the final hurdle. You must be devastated, Ren!"

Ren Congyu reached out and pinched her cheek. "Where's your professional judgment now?"

Tao Xuqiu threw herself into his arms. "You're just a side character. Don't ask for too much."

"I'm the heroine, so I make the rules!"

When he was eight, Ren Congyu also had a dream. He dreamed he was just a side character in a romance novel.
