So You're Not Human Either

The couple in their loveless arranged marriage were finally getting divorced.

On the day of the divorce, outside the Civil Affairs Bureau.

Hai Shuyu: "We're never going to see each other again, so I'll tell you the truth. I'm actually a mermaid."

Fu Changyan: ?

Hai Shuyu: "I know you don't believe me. Whatever. Believe it or don't."

With that, he turned to leave.

After a long silence, Fu Changyan spoke behind him: "Why didn't you tell me sooner? I'm a flame dragon!"

Hai Shuyu: ???

The fake-married couple, in unison: "So why on earth did we spend all these years pretending to be human?!"

A mermaid who was supposed to be cool and seductive but keeps picking up the wrong script X Western dragons are famously bad-tempered, miserly hoarders

- One-on-one romance, both are virgins, happy ending.

- Everyone, from the leads to the supporting cast, has obvious personality flaws. The leads will gradually grow, but they'll still be imperfect characters even after that. Readers who mind this should proceed with caution.

Please add my upcoming novel next door, The Demon-Human Employment Assistance Program, to your reading list!

Thousands of years ago, the Elder of the Yao Clan and the founder of the Demon Hunting Sect shared a breathtaking, passionate, and deadly love.

From then on, the Yao Clan decreed that their descendants must keep causing minor trouble in the human world, so that every demon hunter's descendant would always have work.

The little yao Huali marveled, "Oh wow! No wonder you're an elder. Even your tragic love between a human and a yao is so full of positive energy!"

As an adult, Huali diligently began her targeted assistance work:

Steal the last egg from the chicken coop, leaving the hen with nothing to hatch!

Pick up every little stone along the riverbank, leaving people nothing to skip across the water!

Buy the peddler's last piece of candy, making a child wail!

After successfully creating one minor nuisance after another, Huali laughed with her hands on her hips. She really was a little genius at doing evil!

...But come to think of it, where was the Taoist she was supposed to be helping?

The Demon Hunting Sect's ancestral precept states: Every demon hunter must be paired one-on-one with a yao. In front of humans, the demon hunter must make a show of being strict while secretly going easy on the yao, so every yao can cause trouble without a care in the world.

As a disciple of the Demon Hunting Sect, Zong Jing solemnly vowed, "The founder left instructions, and I shall obey."

After a long search, Zong Jing finally found the fated deer yao paired with him

She had just emerged from a chicken coop with a head full of disheveled feathers. Her pockets were so heavy with little stones that she could barely walk, yet she was still determined to stagger to the village entrance to buy candy.

Zong Jing fell into deep thought.

Zong Jing remained silent for a long time.

Zong Jing took out a coin and paid the furious chicken farmer who had chased them out.

- More or less a story about an assistance-program intern and an insurance claims adjuster

Theme: There is true kindness and love in this world
