Zhao Mu transmigrates into a book, becoming the spoiled, troublesome crown prince who dies horribly after provoking the tyrant of an enemy kingdom.
Zhao Mu is heartbroken. Isn't his own palace good enough? Isn't his own throne wonderful? Why go acting up in front of a tyrant?
Not wanting to cause trouble, Zhao Mu decides to become a laid-back crown prince. He'll spend his days tending flowers and animals, and won't go anywhere near the neighboring tyrant who kills without batting an eye.
He takes in stray rabbits, deer, dogs, and chickens in the palace, and later gives shelter to an injured green peacock fleeing from danger.
Every day, he brushes the rabbit's fur, bathes the deer, walks the dog, feeds the chickens, and chases after the green peacock, Little Green, to wash its tail.
The peacock's tail drags along the ground. It's so filthy, it's practically a mop.
Little Green never cooperates. It haughtily flicks its tail in Zhao Mu's face or keeps pecking at him. Zhao Mu doesn't mind. He cheerfully hugs Little Green, washes its tail, then applies medicine.
After plenty of chaos, Little Green's injury heals. It comes before Zhao Mu and gazes at him for a long time.
The green peacock, who always thinks Zhao Mu is clumsy, gently pecks his face.
It tickles, and Zhao Mu can't help laughing. Then he sees the tail, which Little Green usually keeps folded up, fan open for him in an instant.
Embarrassed, Zhao Mu rubs his head. "Little Green, your butt is pretty unique."
Little Green: "..."
Once its injury has healed, Little Green leaves without a word, and Zhao Mu is very worried. Before long, the tyrant of the enemy kingdom arrives at the city gates with his army, seeking Zhao Mu's hand in marriage.
Zhao Mu can't understand it. He hasn't been acting up at all, so why would the tyrant think of him?
To protect his people, Zhao Mu has no choice but to marry. On the wedding day, he peeks out from under his red veil. Huh, the tyrant's... well, from behind, why does he look so much like Little Green?
The tyrant curls his lips into a smile. "You touched my tail. Now you have to marry me."
