There Was a Young Man Named Yourong

You Rong is a young man, but he's tall, strong, and plump, three times as imposing as a burly man. People these days consider slender, delicate young men beautiful, so he is often mocked: “Who on earth gave him that name? You Rong means ‘graceful and beautiful,’ but where's the grace in him?” “Maybe it means he's got a big bust! Just look at that chest like a mountain. Whoever named him certainly had foresight.” His looks aren't to people's taste, and on top of that, he was raised in a nunnery as an orphan. Who would have thought that this very You Rong would marry into the illustrious Duke's household at the advanced age of twenty-five, becoming the legitimate wife of the young heir? * From the moment he is told he has been chosen, You Rong knows his only task after the wedding is to leave an heir for the young lord, who is seriously ill and doesn't have long to live. Someone of his station would be lucky to marry a servant of the Duke's household, let alone the young lord. What's more, the Duchess saved him and raised him. Wanting to repay her kindness, You Rong is more than willing to devote himself wholeheartedly to caring for his new husband. But he simply doesn't have the charm a young man is supposed to have, and You Rong worries: Will his pretty young husband like him? Will he be willing to sleep with him? * Everyone lies to him, saying the illness can be cured. They all sing the same tune, telling him this marriage is a chance meeting and a match made in heaven. But Shang Zhilan is precocious and perceptive for his age. How could he not know the purpose behind his family's arrangement? Though his family is rich and powerful, he will eventually be left a widower with an orphan. He wants to fulfill his filial duty, but he doesn't want to be “intimate and uninhibited” with a wife he has just met and has no feelings for. He should be honest with him. He and his family disagree, and the two of them should not consummate the marriage. That is what Shang Zhilan thinks, before he opens his eyes in a daze and sees You Rong. Now, facing his older wife with honey-colored skin and a chest like a full moon, eighteen-year-old Shang Zhilan blushes, unable to look at him or speak. “Would you touch me, please?” You Rong asks. Shang Zhilan's face is as red as a dewy begonia. He stammers, “H-how should I touch you, m-my wife?” *A young man is a man who can bear children, like a ge'er or a husband. *A sweet, sugary short story.
