The eldest son of the Wen family in Kyoto and the eldest daughter of the Shen family were joined in marriage. After the wedding, they treated each other with polite respect and rarely appeared at the same events. What was more, when Miss Shen interviewed her own husband, she wore the same expression she would in any other business meeting.

The questions she asked were just as impersonal.

Miss Shen: "What type of woman do you like?"

Young Master Wen: "Sweet and adorable."

Nothing like Miss Shen at all.

Miss Shen: "Will you be devoted to your wife?"

Young Master Wen: "Hard to say."

As his wife, Miss Shen nodded without changing her expression and carefully wrote down his answer.

Not long afterward, Miss Shen interviewed him again.

Young Master Wen: "Why don't I ask you first? Where did you sleep last night?"

Miss Shen: "That's none of your business."

Young Master Wen: "Is that so?"

As he spoke, he stood up and dragged out a refined, handsome young man. He pinned him against the table, and the scene instantly descended into chaos. The young man wailed, "Brother-in-law, it's me, Shen He! She's my biological sister! Have you forgotten... me?"

Young Master Wen: "Huh?"

He'd gotten jealous over nothing.

[The man who gets into an argument and cries after his wife puts him in his place]

Reader's notes:

1. Mild angst for the female lead, followed by heavy angst for the male lead. The male lead will get divorced.

2. The jerk of a man has to win his wife back.

3. Part of the Kneeling series. [The novel about Wen Zeli from The Stand-In.]

4. Both leads are pure, a battle between equals, and they fall in love after marrying.

5. Feel free to criticize and tease the male lead. If it upsets you too much, you can stop reading. Thanks, kisses. It's angsty at first and sweet later, hence the sweet-romance tag.

The next novel will be about the younger brother, Wen Zexin.

The Newlyweds

Synopsis: Chen Yi was the marriage partner Wen Zexin chose himself. He picked her from among so many families for two main reasons.

First: Her family wasn't powerful. It was in decline.

Second: She was honest and unassuming.

She posed no threat and wouldn't interfere with him, so he could keep making headlines with his scandals.

He could carouse and live without a care in the world.

For Chen Yi, marrying Wen Zexin was marrying above her station, like a sparrow becoming a phoenix.

She never expected Wen Zexin to love her.

She knew her place and lived a quiet, proper life, watching from a distance as he bowed his head to message other women.

However, they had sat together in class for three years.

And she had accidentally fallen in love with him.

But love can fade, and patience can run out. Once she had accumulated enough disappointment, she wanted to leave.

Wen Zexin said, "Sure."

A month later, Wen Zexin blocked her way. "If you leave, I'll break your legs."

Two minutes later, Wen Zexin cried out, "What if I break my own legs instead?"

"Don't go."
