[Synopsis]
What kind of transmigrator would you call a failure?
Tara Caplow has an answer:
Her parents are dead, her adoptive parents are dead, and she herself has been left with both legs crippled. The weather is lovely, she has practically no money, and the one thing she had pinned her hopes on, the System, always says "Activation requirements not met."
Hahahaha!
Life sure does like to play jokes.
At last, she can mope and sigh, "Everything can destroy me." That's nice, isn't it?
But now, a chance to change her fate lies before her.
The LexCorp Super-Citizen Program has launched with fanfare: "Everyone can be a superhero." The plan is to establish Infinity Inc. 2.0 and take over Superman's work in Metropolis, restoring the company's steadily declining reputation. Luthor is still facing numerous accusations, including creating Doomsday and causing Superman's death, endangering the lives and property of citizens, conducting illegal human experiments, and evading taxes.
The moment the news comes out, Tara ignores her friends' attempts to stop her and rushes to sign up with LexCorp. She has always said she doesn't care that her legs are crippled. That was a lie. She cares. She cares very much.
"Welcome, Tara. You're our first candidate, and we're honored to have your trust."
LexCorp's super-gene experiment succeeds.
Tara doesn't find out when the experimenter tells her. Instead, the System activates and keeps repeating an announcement in her ear: "You have awakened your super-gene. The superhero support System is now officially online. We sincerely welcome you to use it."
In an instant, the whole world grows bright.
All her dejection, resentment, and self-pity, every negative feeling, disappears.
Tara just wants to laugh and tell the whole world how happy she is.
And so...
Metropolis's newest workaholic champion, or fourteen-year-old hired superhero Nightstar, makes her dazzling debut.
