P.S.:
1. This story has some connection to “The Head-Raising Curse.” Those who’ve read it will know, but the connection isn’t important, so it’s fine if you haven’t.
2. I was worried that involving historical issues might stir up controversy, so I set the story in a fictional world. But I’m lazy, and creating a whole new dynasty would be a real pain, so shamelessly I reused the setting from my earlier story, “Record of Cherishing Flowers.” This should take place about a hundred years after that story. So... you don’t need to read that one, either!
