Wild Geese Descending on the Flat Sands

Since the northern horsemen came peering over the Yangtze, the ruined ponds and ancient trees still recoil at the mention of war. - Jiang Kui, "Slow Song of Yangzhou"

That year, beneath the peach blossoms at Hongfu Temple, I begged you to take me away.

If you had agreed then, the treacherous minister Zhong Yu would never have bathed the court in blood and thrown the realm into chaos as he has today.

But you didn't, Xiao Suiyuan.

So now you must decide: will you kill me for the righteous cause and earn a place in history,

or will you be carved into the annals alongside me as a treasonous villain, guilty of every imaginable crime and reviled by all?

Many years later, Jiang Sui finally understood that the emperor's trust and admiration, the general's affection and wrongful death, were all parts of a ridiculous, hollow deception. The thing he'd spent his whole life pursuing and devoting himself to was nothing but a dream in the Southern Bough.

A few things to know before reading:

1. A serious political intrigue story. Happy ending, 1v1, third-person narration, both leads are each other's first and only.

2. The bottom is the definition of beautiful, strong, and tragic. Very beautiful, very strong, and very tragic. (Take note!)

3. The bottom is a ruthless, powerful minister. Even while deeply in love with the top, he uses him several times, and the top ultimately chooses to forgive him. Don't read if that's a dealbreaker.

4. Neither the main characters nor the supporting cast are wholly good or bad. Everyone has their own plans and selfish motives.

5. Thank you for your support!
