Me and My Cat

◇At night, the cat lies on my chest and sleeps beside me.

◇Starlight and moonlight slip through the curtains that were never pulled shut.

◇My cat suddenly has a question for me.

◆Cat: Will you love me forever?

◇Me: I don't think I can. You'll live for twenty years at most, and I'll live for a hundred. Even if you add them together and multiply by ten, that's still not forever.

◇Cat: You really have no romantic bone in your body.

◇Me: Then will you love me forever?

◇Cat: But just how far away is forever?

◇Me: Far enough to go from the earth to the Milky Way, then back to earth, and then squared, cubed, raised to the fourth power...

◆Cat: Then I'll love you that far.
