[Childhood Friends x Mutual Secret Crush] (Short story)
"Who wants you to like me!" she shouted, her eyes red.
"Well, I do." The class top scorer smiled and ruffled her hair.
Gu Feifei and Xie Jiu grew up together, but they came from two different worlds.
He was the top student, handsome and from a well-off family. She was a lazy student who slept in class and played games between lessons.
Then came the sophomore-year class assignments, and their names appeared side by side on Class Two's roster.
Gu Feifei: "...What rotten luck."
Xie Jiu: "Fancy seeing you here, childhood friend."
She kept her guard up, determined not to date someone right under her nose.
Until one rainy night, she was kicked out of her home and ended up soaked, crouching outside a convenience store.
The glass door chimed, and Xie Jiu stepped out, draping his jacket over her head.
"Come on. Let's go home."
"Who asked you to butt in!"
He pulled her into his arms. His voice fell by her ear, softer than the rain, yet heavier than a vow:
"Gu Feifei, you have never been a burden."
"At least, my world can't be without you."
