Starlight from the Gods

After actor Gu Chen won the Triple Gold awards, his stills were plastered all over the streets and alleys of Luzhen's film and television studios.

At the time, Jiang Ruoyao was barely known, rushing between bit parts and small-time ad gigs.

Fifteen years earlier, the future Triple Gold-winning actor was still in Luzhen, wearing a dark blue palace robe to play a little eunuch. Jiang Ruoyao was six, playing the heroine's childhood maid.

The little eunuch knelt on the ground to serve as a mounting block, and the little palace maid followed the princess onto the boy's thin back. The future star's burning body heat passed through the thin soles of her period-drama shoes and warmed her feet.

Jiang Ruoyao remembered a starry night fifteen years later, when the actor pinned her against the ancient wall of this Qing-style building. His eyes sparkled like stars, and his low, husky voice tempted her: "Be mine, and the stills above your head will be of the two of us."

The still above her head showed the actor in the middle of a hunt. With tenderness for an arrow and devotion for a bow, he had surrounded and captured the young woman's tender heart.

The entertainment industry is a small world, and Gu Chen is its god. He said, "Let there be light," and starlight filled her world.
