He Is a Demon

Since ancient times, humans and demons have been at odds.

Xie Li, a Venerable of the Court of Punishment, wields great authority and is decisive in dealing out death. Under her protection, the human realm has enjoyed a century of peace, and the demon race has dared not invade.

Humans revere her. Demons despise her.

Until one day, word spreads that Xie Li has been severely injured and lost all her cultivation.

A fallen god is abandoned by humanity.

The demons of every faction want her dead.

When Xie Li is at her lowest, she is rescued by a gentle, refined man.

His name is Lian Xueheng. He promises to protect the Venerable and help her return to the Court of Punishment.

From then on, no matter how difficult the road ahead, Lian Xueheng truly protects her every step of the way, keeping her safe from the demons hunting her.

Until... the day Xie Li recovers her cultivation ahead of schedule, when she sees the snowy-white tail Lian Xueheng accidentally reveals.

A nine-tailed celestial fox must be a great demon.

Xie Li invites Lian Xueheng to join the Court of Punishment.

When his identity is exposed, she asks him, "If you're a demon, why save a human?"

"I wanted to prove to you that demons can be good or evil, too." Lian Xueheng's body sways as if about to fall. "Did I fail?"

Xie Li thinks that demons should not be divided into good and evil.

She does not answer his question.

In the end, the demon-trial assembly comes to a close beneath the nine heavenly bolts of lightning from the Court of Punishment.

The great demon's blood washes away the endless malice on the execution platform.

Everyone says, "Demons deserve to be killed!"

Afterward, the world is once again rid of a great demon who supposedly "wreaked havoc among humans."

But in the underground palace where no one knows of her, Xie Li keeps a snow-white fox bound in shackles.

Lian Xueheng once had three wishes.

First, to cultivate nine tails and become a great demon.

Second, to find the little girl who saved him when he was young.

Third, to be the last demon Xie Li ever killed.

Later, all three of Lian Xueheng's wishes come true. Even when the woman he loves imprisons him in a tiny space, he is content.
