After Reincarnating as the Female Lead, I Only Want to Be a Widow

Song Yuanzhi transmigrated into the heroine of an old-fashioned, angst-filled romance novel. According to the plot, Marquis of Nan'an's heir, Xuanyuan Yu, would mistake her for his beloved white moonlight's substitute, take her by force, and torment her both body and soul until she eventually took her own life. After her death, Xuanyuan Yu would be overcome with grief and finally realize he had long been deeply in love with her. He would then go mad and kill all his concubines and his white moonlight, spending the rest of his life searching for substitutes and suffering in misery.

What an insanely over-the-top plot!

Song Yuanzhi loaded up a carriage and fled overnight. Before Xuanyuan Yu could make a move on her, she hurriedly accepted a marriage proposal from the household of the Marquis of Zhenbei.

Lu Shaoyou, the Marquis of Zhenbei, was held in high regard by the emperor. A rising star who had made a name for himself on the battlefield before turning twenty, he was a god of war in the eyes of the people of the Rong Dynasty. Even the arrogant Xuanyuan Yu had to kneel before Lu Shaoyou and sing his praises.

The only problem was that Lu Shaoyou had supposedly died in a recent border battle, leaving no body behind.

Which meant Song Yuanzhi would become a widow as soon as she married into the family.

Song Yuanzhi was very pleased with this arrangement. With her husband gone, she wouldn't have to worry about him cheating. She could adopt a child from the clan and raise them, without having to risk her life giving birth. And with filial duty on her side, she wouldn't have to worry about raising an ungrateful child.

A leisurely retirement was waiting for her. This was a fantastic deal!

But Song Yuanzhi never expected that her supposedly dead fiance would come back alive!

Lu Shaoyou casually held Xuanyuan Yu, whom he'd beaten half to death, and gave Song Yuanzhi a brazen, flirtatious smile.

“I heard someone loved me so much she was ready to marry me even if it meant becoming a widow. How could I refuse such ardent devotion? I had no choice but to crawl back from hell.”

Song Yuanzhi: “...You probably won't believe me, but I just wanted to be a widow.” *shrugs*
