The Idle Prince Ascends the Throne

Huan Jie finally finished every task assigned by the grindset System, working himself to the bone. Happily, he planned out a leisurely retirement with plenty of money and free time. But the useless System made a deployment error, and Huan Jie became the newly born Sixth Prince of the Great Ye Dynasty.

Huan Jie: ...Fine. As long as I keep a steady mindset, I can enjoy retirement anywhere. Studying? What’s that? There’s no way I’m getting up early in this life. Sneaking out of the palace to have fun, though, sounds great. I absolutely refuse to let anyone in the capital be more outrageous than me!

When he got bored, he could watch the drama unfold: his eldest, second, and third brothers fought bitterly for power and the throne; his fourth brother was in poor health and obsessed with alchemy and cultivation; and his fifth brother was trapped in a stormy romance, starring in a classic “win her back after losing her” saga.

Political intrigue, cultivation, over-the-top melodrama: there was never a dull moment.

Then, overnight, everything changed. His eldest, second, and third brothers fought so viciously that they all died; his fourth brother took so many pills that he went to join the Three Pure Ones; and his fifth brother pursued his beloved until he scattered his own ashes.

Now everyone’s eyes were on Huan Jie.

Remembering some miserable grind-it-out experiences from his past, Huan Jie burst into tears. Don’t you dare give me the throne!
