Wanting to Ask About the Path to Immortality was a feel-good cultivation novel, but it made Qi Wan curse up a storm.

The book's main villain, Xiao Chujue, was the protagonist Yan Shi's half-brother. Yet their fates were completely different. Yan Shi had a kind, gentle master with profound cultivation, and enjoyed a smooth life.

Though Xiao Chujue was exceptionally gifted, he was poisoned and blinded at seven, then pushed into an icy cave at twelve, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. When he finally became someone's disciple and began cultivating, he fell into the hands of a villain, who imprisoned him in a cramped, dark room and drained his cultivation day and night.

In the end, Xiao Chujue grew twisted and insane, brought calamity to the world, and was killed by the protagonist, who put righteousness before family.

Then Qi Wan woke up to find that he had become Yan Shi's beloved master.

He only needed to teach the protagonist well to reach the pinnacle of life, but he couldn't stop thinking about the villain, blind and crippled.

So, before any of it could happen, Qi Wan reached out to Xiao Chujue and offered him a tiny glimmer of light.
