A Little Sky

At the kindergarten speech contest, Luo Aitian gives a speech titled "My Daddy and Mommy."

"My mommy is a beautiful flight attendant. Through her own hard work, she's now a flight purser..."

"My daddy used to be an Air Force major. Later, he joined the same airline as Mommy. He's amazing. He's a captain..."

Xin Xiaoxiao smiles softly and glances at her husband standing to her left. He still stands ramrod straight, but as he holds their daughter's hand, his expression is so gentle it hardly seems like him.

Luo Aitian continues, "Daddy has a very regular schedule. When he isn't flying, he always goes to bed by ten every night. But Mommy always wants to exercise."

Xin Xiaoxiao maintains her elegant flight-attendant poise, but her smile stiffens. Heaven knows what this little rascal gets up to every day.

"Daddy often asks Mommy, 'Why do you like flying up on top so much...'"

Luo Aitian's innocent words are too much for Xin Xiaoxiao. She finally grits her teeth and says without moving her lips, "Can you talk about something else...?"

Luo Hang crouches down gently. When he's with his daughter, he's like a breeze from the horizon. Smiling, he encourages her. "Can you tell everyone what your dream is?"

Luo Aitian recites brightly, "The curved moon is a little boat, a little boat with two pointed ends. I sit inside the little boat, seeing only twinkling stars and a blue, blue sky..."

Xin Xiaoxiao smiles. This may be the only love poem Luo Hang has ever said to her in his life. He once told her that she was the sky beneath his feet...
