The Eldest Princess Is Done Following the Rules

Shao Hua was the late emperor's most beloved eldest princess. Born into a prominent family, she entered the Gu household at seventeen and married Gu Zhang, Marquis of Dingbei.

Though theirs was a political marriage, Gu Zhang treated her with courtesy and respect. Shao Hua thought they would live out their lives together like any ordinary couple in the capital.

Until one day, the husband she respected rebelled alongside officials from outside the court and stormed the gates of the imperial city. He massacred and looted within its walls. Her beloved father and mother were killed in the Jingling Hall, and when she looked into his eyes, she saw no trace of warmth, only a bone-chilling hatred.

His voice hoarse, he plunged a knife into his own chest. Blood kept flowing. She couldn't tell whose blood it was, his or someone else's.

Shao Hua died consumed by resentment, never expecting the heavens to take pity on her and send her back to before her wedding. As she looked at the candidates her mother had carefully chosen for her, the conventional eldest princess picked up a brush and crossed out the name of Gu Zhang, who was still the legitimate heir of the Gu family.

The news sent the entire capital into an uproar. Some said the Gu family had angered the eldest princess; others said they had offended the emperor. Some claimed the emperor was using the incident to warn others. The rumors went on and on.

Shao Hua paid them no mind. But when she took action against the Gu family, she never expected Xie Rufeng, famed for his fairness and impartiality, to take her side.

Later, she married Xie Rufeng. On their wedding night, she asked him why he had helped her.

Beneath the wedding candles, the general's eyes were unfathomably deep, as if full of grievance. He leaned close to her ear and said, “Your Highness need not know. Just know that I am your humble servant, at your feet.”

No questions asked, he gives you his whole heart.
