The Koi Spirit Doesn't Want to Work Hard Anymore

Li Lele is a koi fish spirit (or should that be a koi fish?) who's already turned 500! She thinks daily cultivation in the mountains is just too tiring and really doesn't want to work hard anymore.

They say that when spirits reach a certain stage in their cultivation, they have to go to the mortal world to "undergo tribulations" and "settle their worldly ties" and all that. She loves the colorful mortal world: there's tons of delicious food, drinks, and fun things to do. Living among humans sounds much more comfortable than cultivating in the mountains.

So she said goodbye to her parents and went down the mountain to experience the mortal world. She told them she wanted to take a shortcut, turn into a human, and go through some experiences to overcome her "heart tribulation" and make her cultivation improve by leaps and bounds.

Ahem. It wouldn't matter if those plans didn't work out. She was only telling her parents that. All she wanted was to live comfortably and enjoy herself in the human world.

But why was her cultivation progressing even faster than it had when she was working hard in the mountains? Could this be the legendary "winning without lifting a finger"?
