Second Uncle, Do You Want a Husband?

Blurb: Ruan He was engaged to the Shen family from childhood. Though he knew nothing about love, he was determined to fulfill his grandfather's dying wish, and devoted himself to chasing after the Shen family's second son. Until the day before the wedding, when he caught his fiance getting intimate with his cousin. Ruan He neither cried nor made a scene. He simply turned and left. Their elders had arranged the engagement while they were alive, and the Shen family was certain the Ruan family wouldn't break it off. So they publicly announced that they would take that woman as a concubine, making the Ruan family a laughingstock throughout the village. Ruan He was furious. Then he thought about it: the Shen family had more than one unmarried man. So he went straight to the fields and stopped Shen Jingshan, who was working there. "Uncle, do you want a husband?" The man was tall and fierce-looking, and always wore a dark expression. The villagers privately said that a man like him would surely beat his husband. Ruan He regretted his words as soon as they left his mouth. But the other man didn't even give him a chance to react. He simply nodded and agreed! His parents worried that he'd be beaten. But after marrying Shen Jingshan, Ruan He lived like he was in heaven. His husband took care of all the chores, and Ruan He didn't even have to feed the chickens and ducks. All he had to do was eat well, drink well, and happily lie flat. The nights were a little harder to get through, though. His husband, who looked so serious and proper, seemed like a completely different person in bed, always leaving Ruan He with aching hips and weak legs, unable to get out of bed... Meanwhile, the people who had once laughed at him gradually realized that the young man they had assumed was destined for a miserable life had been pampered to the skies by Shen Jingshan. His life was flourishing, and he'd even had one or two children. The Shen family matriarch was consumed with regret. If only she'd known, she never would have agreed to split up the family! Theme: Even ordinary people are doing their best to live.
