A Startling Tale of the Flourishing Tang Dynasty

Under the Peach Blossom Tree, I Recognized Longing

In Three Lifetimes of Dreams, I Sought the Startling Words

Little Whale was always hungry and never got enough to eat.

One day, Little Whale was dozing in the Celestial Lake when the sound of a zither drifted over the water. She surfaced, intending to swallow the man in white, but was startled to see how beautiful his face was, and hurriedly spat him out. Mortified, she sank back beneath the water.

The High God Qing He gave lectures here every day. She had admired him for two whole centuries.

As peach blossom petals fell, she suddenly awoke. Resting at the water's edge was a pair of tiny, pale hands. She had two little horns on her head, and her pink-and-white robe was damp with water. She was so chubby that she was about to slide into the lake.

He picked her up and set her beneath the peach blossom tree.

He said, "I'll give you a name: Bai Jingyu. How does that sound?"

Little Whale was delighted. She lifted her plump, peach-colored little face to look at him.

With a smile, Qing He wrote three characters on the ground: Bai Jingyu.

His face was as lovely as spring blossoms, his phoenix eyes full of warmth as he smiled at her. "Jingyu, do you know that you're a pure white whale with fair skin and stunning looks?"

Jingyu rolled around beneath the peach blossom tree, revealing her round, plump belly. He laughed. "You little big-bellied fish." She replied, "Sir, are you going to wait for Little Jing to grow up?"

Qing He answered, "I'll wait for you to grow up."

"But, Sir, I'll need to eat a lot! I'm always hungry!"

"I'll find you plenty and plenty of delicious food, and get you grown up in no time!"

"Sir, are you in a hurry to marry fair-skinned, beautiful Little Jing?"

When that girl had grown into a peerlessly beautiful young woman, she smiled and asked, "Sir, Little Jing has grown up."

Qing He opened his palm to reveal a peach blossom pastry. "Little Jing, my home has more delicious food than you could ever finish. Will you marry me?"

"I will!"

The male lead is a narwhal, and the female lead is a humpback whale.
