Worlds Apart

The year Ji Lanting turned thirty-two: He fell out with his old agency, got saddled with a huge debt, and took a role in a melodramatic danmei adaptation he would never have even glanced at before. He played the submissive role, a timid, gentle white lotus who only ever backed away when people bullied him. The year Ruan Jingxie turned twenty-six: His long-held dream of joining a boy band fell apart, and his company forcibly packed him off to a danmei drama production that paid well. He played the dominant role, a capable, bad-tempered CEO, opposite the senior he'd kept in his heart for years. The script was riddled with plot holes and had far too many flaws. Even after the two of them fought tooth and nail with the director to rewrite the plot and add details, the show still got panned and became infamous when it aired. The one thing worth celebrating was that after filming wrapped, they both escaped their ridiculous former agencies. Ruan Jingxie even signed with Ji Lanting's newly opened studio and became his boss's boyfriend. [Desperate bottom x hard-won top] [Toxic, angsty happily-ever-after in the show x mutual pining that comes true offscreen] *None of the characters are based on real people. *Includes original additions, and same-sex marriage is legal in this setting.
