I Want to Study

Tu Qiaoyan would always remember when she was nine, and her older sister pointed to their dilapidated house with its leaking roof and said, "Qiaoyan, Mom and Dad want me to marry the son of Wang Funnong, who lives at the entrance to the village. Everyone says it's a good match, but I don't want to. I've been to school, so I know how big the world is beyond here. Remember what I'm telling you: study hard and go out to see the world. You'll find that women can do many things besides getting married. I hope you won't waste your whole life away."

A person's life should be lived so that, looking back, she feels neither regret for wasting her years nor shame for having achieved nothing.

Years later, as Tu Qiaoyan looked back on her life, she smiled and said to herself, "I'm glad I did it in this lifetime."

(I decided to write this story because I wanted to enter a writing contest about strengthening the nation through science and technology. There is no rebirth, no transmigration, and no golden finger. It is simply the story of an ordinary rural girl who changes her fate through education. Through her own hard work and research, she contributes to building society.

Since entering the workforce, the author has come to appreciate more and more how important knowledge and education are. Children from wealthy families will never know how much poor children sacrifice to get an education, nor understand how education and knowledge have changed so many lives.)

Theme: I want to study. I want to change my fate.
