The Patriarch’s Coffin Lid

I'm sorry. I've been in a bad place lately, and this story has gotten a bit messy, so I've decided to make major revisions. I'll update it once I've rewritten it. My apologies again. After enduring countless hardships, the founding patriarch of the Pei family finally returns. But he comes back to the world in the ancestral graveyard of his enemy's family. Never mind, at least he's back. After returning, Pei Shen can't shake the feeling that something is wrong. He asks his young attendant, "Where's the coffin?" The attendant says, "We left it behind in the enemy's ancestral graveyard." Fuming, Pei Shen storms over to the Ji family. The current head of the family is Ji Lan, who is countless years younger than him. "You, junior, give my things back." The lofty Ji family has never been challenged like this. Everyone calls on their head to set things right. Ji Lan says, "Junior? I hear the Pei family patriarch and my ancestor shared a bed and helped each other through hard times. Given such an important bond, you should call me big brother." Everyone: ...This isn't how things are supposed to go. The Ji and Pei families have avoided interfering in each other's affairs for hundreds of years, but now they've returned to a time of conflict. --Didn't the feud between those two families end? --Why has it started up again? --I heard there's a marriage tie between the Pei and Ji families. --What kind of tie? --The bond between husband and wife endures for a hundred days after one night together.
